Si sono svolte a Riccione le elezioni FITri, Renato Bertrandi è il nuovo Presidente della Federazione Italiana Triathlon. Eletti anche i 10 Consiglieri facenti parte della stessa cordata.

Ai Mondiali di winter triathlon norvegesi, lo svedese Andreas Svanebo dopo il titolo europeo fa suo anche quello iridato, mentre tra le donne vince per la prima volta una triatleta non europea, la statunitense Rebecca Dussault.
L’Italia porta a casa un bronzo con il team maschile (Thomas Niederegger, Daniel Antonioli e Gabriele Carretta) e due ori Age Group con Luca Alladio e Marco Bethaz.
Infine, sabato mattina si è corso a Langkawi l’Ironman Malaysia (ancora in fase di svolgimento): la durissima prova malese si è conclusa con una strepitosa vittoria del belga Marino Vanhoenacker tra gli uomini; in campo femminile, Belinda Granger ha preceduto la meranese di ferro Edith Niederfriniger: per l’azzurra ennesimo podio e slot per Kona conquistata!
